Cistern Leak & Running Water Fixes

We are experts in diagnosing the internal issues that cause leaks, constant running, and slow refills:

  • Float Valve / Ballcock Replacement: Fixing continuous running water and cistern overflowing caused by a faulty ballcock or fill valve.
  • Flush Mechanism Repair: Addressing leaks or sticking caused by a faulty syphon (in older toilets) or a damaged flush valve (in modern push-button toilets).
  • Worn Seal & Washer Replacement: Resolving quiet leaks caused by a deteriorated doughnut washer (pan-to-cistern seal) or a worn flush seal at the base of the cistern.
  • Water Overflow Repair: Immediate replacement of the valve to prevent water escaping through the overflow pipe.

Full Toilet Replacement & Installation

If repair is not cost-effective, or you are simply upgrading then we can provide installation of new close-coupled toilets, back-to-wall units, or wall-hung frames or complete bathroom renovation.

Parts Replaced in under an hour.

Case Study:  Stop Running Water in Sutton Coldfield

The Problem: A homeowner in Four Oaks, reported a constant trickling sound and noticed their toilet cistern was refilling frequently, leading to excessive water waste and noise.

The Diagnosis: Engineer Dave quickly identified the fault as a completely seized-up float valve (ballcock) that had failed to shut off the water supply once the cistern was full.

The Solution: The old unit was removed and replaced with a modern, quiet, and highly efficient fill valve (ballcock replacement) from local Wolverhampton stock.

The Result: The continuous running water was instantly stopped, saving the customer an estimated 300-400 litres of water per day. The repair was completed in under an hour, guaranteed by our 12-month warranty.

Toilet Leak Repair Birmingham  - FAQ's

  • Why is my toilet running constantly, and what is a ballcock?

If you hear your toilet running periodically in your home, it’s likely a faulty flush valve or a perished seal. This can waste hundreds of litres of water. I can replace the internal siphon or flapper to stop the noise and the waste immediately.

  • I have a push-button toilet, not a float ball. What causes that to leak?

Modern push-button toilets use a Flush Valve instead of a syphon. Leaks here are typically caused by a perished rubber seal at the base of this valve.

We carry replacement flush seals and can easily install a new, efficient valve to stop the internal leak

  • Can you fix hidden cisterns behind tiling?

Yes. Most modern toilets in have an access plate behind the flush button. I specialise in repairing these concealed units without needing to break your tiles or cabinetry.

  • What causes water to pool around the base of the toilet?

This is usually a failed "pan connector" or "doughnut seal." If left, it will rot the subfloor of your home. I remove the toilet, replace the heavy-duty seals, and secure it back to the floor properly.
